Idolatry: Irony

The idolatry series is coming along pretty slowly, as life and school keep getting in the way. However, I figured I’d throw this one out there, because it connects with the two previously discussed topics of idolatry.

Firstly, my intelligent wife pointed out that “idolism,” which I’ve been using in my titles, is the wrong word altogether. Idolatry is the proper term. This should help me get over the idol of my self: I can’t even get the word right! I even thought about going back and changing the post titles to save face, but I’ll leave them there to “keep it real.” So much for the idol of “me.”

Secondly, my internet access in my apartment has been simply awful and reliably unreliable. For someone who likes technology a little too much, this is helping me to get over this particular idol, since I have no choice but to figure out real-world things to do. You know, things like school work and reading and spending time with my wife and other people. Who knew?  So much for the idol of “technology.”

So, maybe God is helping to humble me; to draw me away from things that are not Him. Hmm… if this pattern continues, writing these posts could make life really annoying! ;)
