The Problem of Speaking

I’m speaking in chapel at our school tomorrow. I have no idea what to say. The problem is not that I don’t have anything to say, just the opposite. I have far too much too say on far too many things to cram into a twenty minute chapel talk.

It will, I’m sure, turn out just fine. I don’t need it to be a cataclysmic, once-in-a-lifetime event, as much as my evangelical heritage wants to make it into that. It certainly will be a moment of time in the life of our community where, with God’s grace, we stumble towards the Kingdom.

Good luck Matt! Of course you’ll do great. Your voice is an extremely important one for the SSU community to hear. I firmly believe that. I am the same way though; although I was never asked to speak at a chapel, I certainly had thought about what I would say on a number of occassions. It is hard to just say a few things when you have so much to say on so many different levels. I hope Joel records it and posts it on his site, otherwise you should find a way, because I’m sad to miss it.

Thanks Ry. I’m pretty sure that Joel’s been recording them pretty consistently.

Unfortunately it didn’t get recorded. I forgot to check about that because I slept in and was scrambling to get my thoughts in order until the moment I went up to speak. Classic.
